I am using the RStudio Server Amazon Machine Image (AMI) for a collaborative statistical learning research project intended to produce a paper for publication because its computational requirements are exceeding my laptop's local capacities.

I have been unable to run my 1st first of two R scripts, wherein I am running N LASSO Regressions on N synthetic datasets which were generated via Monte Carlo methods as the 1st of three Benchmark Variable Selection Algorithms to compare the performance of with the novel Variable Selection Algorithm which has been proposed by my collaborator and it the subject of this research project/paper. The problem is that the N in this case is 260k where each dataset is 500 by 31 (46 GB in all), so the runtime issues and laptop freezes have become prohibitive, especially since my backup laptop stopped working in October.

I have already created myself an AWS account and opened up an instance, a RStudio Server Amazon Machine Image (AMI). However, I am such a newbie with AWS that I cannot even figure out how to get my new instance to connect successfully (as is shown in the two screenshots below), let alone anything further.

I really need to have the results of these three Benchmarks tallied by January 17th at the latest when my next and final semester in my MS in Data Analytics Engineering begins!
