I've done a couple of beginner-level competitions on Kaggle, and I thought I should implement research papers in computer vision (YOLOv1) but I'm finding it difficult to code it. How should I proceed? Should I start with simpler papers? if so please list a couple of papers so that I can practice them and can get confident in coding papers.

I suggest you try with papers that have been already reproduced by others. You may find good candidates among the past editions of the ICLR reproducibility challenge.
