For finding supermarket product association rules it is said that apriori is suited to identify frequent itemsets. From here then we can mine association rules.

Given 100 products, and their transactions, we need to consider itemset of one item, then 2nd item,... upto the 100th item. Then consider 1st and 2nd item, 2nd and 3rd,... and so on..

I am reading that this is a computationally complicated problem and hence we have theapriori algorithm that reduces the computational complexity. Does apriori algorithm start with one item in the set and then till how many items does it process in the set?
